Foods that Boost the Male Libido

It goes without saying that almost all men are looking for ways to give their libido a boost. There’s a burgeoning market out there for male enhancement pills and creams but some men prefer the all-natural approach. You can easily raise your libido either by eating specific dishes or by mixing certain fruits and vegetables into your diet.  There are dishes that contain particular ingredients and nutrients that are good for boosting your sex drive.

Here are some foods that can enhance your libido naturally:

Scrambled, fried or poached. No matter how you cook them, eggs will energize you after a long hard slog at work so you can still have some after-hours fun. Eggs are protein-rich, which is essential for stamina, but they’re low in calories. Plus, they’re also a great source of L-arginine, an amino acid that’s proven effective for treating erectile dysfunction.  A lot of men swear that eating eggs raw will give you an extreme spike in your libido. However, eating raw eggs exposes you to the dangers of salmonella poisoning.

Celery is admittedly not the first food that will pop in people’s minds when talking about sex, but this wonder vegetable is great for sexual stimulation. Celery has androsterone, an odorless hormone that’s released through male sweat. A whiff of it will turn women on. So wash and cut some celery sticks and start munching away.

Another surprising ingredient that increases a man’s libido, spinach has indole-3-carbinol, a substance that prevents the production of estrogen. And men with less estrogen are leaner and have higher testosterone levels. Eating it raw is best, but you can cook it any which way you like.

One of the classic and well-known aphrodisiacs, oysters are high in zinc, which is needed to increase sperm and testosterone production. Oysters also have dopamine, a hormone that boosts libido. Unlike eggs, eating oysters raw really heightens the experience. You can even make it part of your foreplay. To really savor the experience, make sure you scrub the shells thoroughly to get grime and bacteria off. Pry the shells open and arrange them on a bed of ice. Squeeze some fresh lemon over them for added flavor and enjoy!

Avocados are rich in folic acid which helps synthesize proteins to give you more energy. The fruit is also a valuable source of vitamin B6, a nutrient that boosts production of testosterone. And more testosterone leads to an increase in libido. It’s no wonder that the Aztecs call the avocado tree the “testicle tree” or “ahuacatl.”

Almonds and other nuts

Almonds are the best source of essential fatty acids while most nuts are chockfull of linoleic acid. The former is needed in the development of hormones while the latter helps improve sperm production. Plus, the smell of almonds are said to arouse women. Try stocking up on some almonds and other nuts as well as almond-scented candles. You can use the candles to set the mood while munching on almonds.

Cloves are not just good for your stews and sauces, this is also a sex wonder food. Cloves have been used in India for centuries to treat male sexual dysfunction. Recent research has also shown that it also increases libido. Cloves are also good for getting rid of bad breath, which is good news when there’s someone you want to kiss. Add it to your hot apple cider, chai tea or any Mexican dish and get ready for a hot night.

Now that you know how to boost your libido, it’s time to check out the local supermarket and stock up.
